Sandia Generated Matrix Tool
The Sandia Generated Matrix Tool creates visual tests of intelligence and reasoning ability, as pictured to the right. The goal is to pick the correct answer to fill in the gap in the lower right corner of the matrix.
The tool can be used to automatically construct a large number of these tests, called matrices, for use in psychology experiments, machine learning, machine vision, and other fields of cognitive science. The basic structure types implemented in the matrix generation software are five types of shape transformations (shape change, shading change, orientation change, size change, and number change) and three types of logic problems (conjunction, disjunction, and exclusive disjunction). The tool's code is easily extensible to add new shapes and problem types.
The tool's development is led by Sandia National Laboratories and is released under the open source BSD License.
